Filter Press for Sludge Dewatering

A feeding pump is used to pump slurries of water mixed with solids into the press. Pressure from a centrifugal pump or similar device pushes the slurry through chambers made of filter plates once inside the press. As “filter cakes” of solids build up on the machine’s filters, this removes impurities from the water. Teknofanghi introduces MONOBELT, a new generation of belt filter presses. It can be used to dewater sludge produced by small and large wastewater treatment plants.

It produces a cake that is drier than any other dewatering method. Another advantage is that the high solids capture yields high-quality filtrate. High capital costs, relatively high operation and maintenance costs, high chemical costs, and a large area requirement for the equipment in small wastewater treatment plants are all disadvantages. Because large plates that dewater several tonnes of sludge per hour are available, the area requirements for large treatment plants are relatively small.

Below are some examples of our mobile filter presses and mobile water purification systems. Some filter presses also need to be mobile because their jobs are constantly changing. A mobile filter press can be used to filter different tanks at different times. A job site may also shift, and the mobile filter press must follow. Finally, some jobsites only require a filter press for a short period of time, and the mobile press can meet this requirement as well.

A filter press is one of the most ancient and dependable pieces of dewatering equipment. It is used to treat wastewater in a variety of industries and applications. A filter press separates solids from liquids while also removing impurities and suspended solids from industrial wastewater. This enables plant managers to handle and dispose of waste while also returning clean water to their systems. A belt filter press is a sludge dewatering filter press machine that uses two porous moving belts with a gravity drainage zone and mechanically applied pressure zones. Belt filter presses were first used in Europe to dewater paper pulp before being modified to dewater wastewater sludge.

Filter Press Applications

Fast action automatic plate shifters can be used in filter presses to help speed up cake removal and cycle time. Recessed-plate filter presses are used to extract water from liquid wastewater residuals, resulting in a non-liquid material known as “cake.” Recessed-plate filter presses are one of the oldest types of dewatering equipment and have the highest cake solids concentration of any mechanical dewatering equipment. They are more commonly found in industrial settings than in municipal wastewater treatment plants. A high-pressure pump feeds slurry into the recessed chambers, leaving no empty space between the plates, as the first step in each cycle.

Ponds have an unfavourable long-term ROI because dirty water will eventually start entering your process unless you dredge the pond or build a new pond. In most cases, ChemREADY recommends using a filter press and other dewatering equipment over a pond. Figure 3.20 A belt filter press schematic. Shear Zone 1 Pressure Zone (Ashbrook Corporation, 1992.) The cake falls from the gravity drainage section onto the bottom belt and begins to compress between the belts, forming a wedge. The sandwiched solid material is then passed through a series of rollers that apply gradual pressure to the solids to expel nearly all of the free water from the slurry.

Our ToolDox Portal is available to current customers of our filter presses, industrial dryers, and travelling water screen assemblies. Your equipment has been serialised and comes with detailed drawings and specifications. Sludge loading rates for BFPs range from 45 to 550 kg/h-m (100 to 1200 lb/hr-m), depending on the type of sludge and feed concentrations. Hydraulic throughput typically ranges between 80 and 380 L/min-m (20 and 100 gpm/m). Polymer usage of 1 to 10 g/kg (2 to 20 lb/ton) is required on a dry weight basis.

Beckart will recommend the best products for your needs, whether you’re investing in a single Hy-PackĀ® filter press dewatering unit or upgrading your entire wastewater treatment system. The belt filter press, which is widely used in a variety of industries, performs a combined thickening and dewatering process and is an integrated device for sludge and waste water treatment. Chemical conditioning system, precoat system, sludge feed system, washing system, and cake handling are the main design elements in a filter press dewatering facility. During the fill cycle, the slurry pumps into the filter press and distributes itself evenly.
